Keystone, Co., more a ski area than a town per se, was built and planned to serve skiers and summer visitors. Visitors here get right down to the business of playing.
It serves all levels of skiers, from beginners to advanced, and a man-made lake is surrounded by attractive ski lodges. The lake, one of the nation's largest groomed skating ponds, is popular with ice skaters in winter, and with paddle-boaters in summer. The chairlift runs in the summer, too, to get hikers up to mountain-top trails. It's also fun to explore the area on horseback, or play a few rounds of golf on the high-altitude course.
