We are a Mexican folk dance group that has been performing throughout northern Colorado for almost four years. Under the direction of Director/Choreographer: Jonathan Salazar G. Grupo Folkorico Asi Es Mi Tierra has escalated to a high degree of Para-professionalism and in turned has received the honor of attending highly important presentations.
Asi Es Mi Tierra was founded to allow Hispanic youths to promote their Mexican and/or Latino heritage, and to share a splash of color with our community. With these activities youths feel a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment after every show. For the past four years that we have been together, we have been able to entertain crowds of 10 to hundreds of people. Our group is composed of children ages six through twelve and teenagers ages thirteen through sixteen. Within our repertoire, we perform regional dances from the states of: Jalisco, Veracruz, and Chihuahua in Mexico.
Within our existence as a group we have had the opportunity to perform for members of the Children's Foundation as well as having the opportunity to perform for the Governor of Manzanillo, Mexico. We recently returned from the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colorado, where we were able to perform on the grounds main stage, the Pepsi Stage. However a large portion of our performances takes place within our local community, such as: schools, nursing homes, city festivities, private parties, and local Latino/Hispanic events.
