Fountain, Co. was founded in 1859 and is named after the creek that runs just west of the town. Historically a farming and ranching community, Fountain is becoming a fast growing suburb of Colorado Springs. Fountain was named Americas Millennium City by the New York Times because its population best represents the population make-up of the United States. It was also named 2002 All American City by Mel Martinez, Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development.
