Mancos, Co., halfway between the towns of Durango and Cortez in the Four Corners area of southwestern Colorado, is coming into its own. Visitors to nearby Mesa Verde National Park are discovering it's a good stepping-off point for visiting the popular park. In fact, you can see the high mesas from here. Naturally, you wouldn't get this close without spending at least a day in the park, exploring the world-famous cliff dwellings.
One of the most fun diversions in town is a stagecoach ride. It's a way to get a real taste of what this mode of travel must have been like.
