State Bridge, Co., located along Colorado 131 west of Vail, feels old and that's its draw. A historic bridge over the mighty Colorado River and a re-envisioned music venue are just a few of the wonders visitors will stumble upon here. A popular 14-mile stretch of whitewater also runs through State Bridge, bringing rafters and kayakers to this tiny junction town.
Others have started coming for a different reason. The old State Bridge Lodge has been reincarnated, along with its nine completely remodeled riverside cabins. Bands are coming from miles around to play on Saturday nights in this classic establishment, and music-lovers are making the trip from far and wide to see shows and stay over in inexpensive accommodations. In addition to top musical acts, the lodge offers a full bar and dinner menu.
State Bridge also marks one end of the 80-mile Colorado River Headwaters Scenic and Historic Byway. The rough gravel route is challenging to Kremmling, but offers spectacular views and access to fishing and other water sports along the mighty Colorado River.
