Elizabeth, Co. was was incorporated in 1890. The town started as The Webber Sawmill and as the Denver & New Orleans Railroad came into the area the town boomed.
Nestled at the northern end of the Black Forest, Elizabeth offers heavily wooded areas of tall Ponderosa Pine with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. Nearby Castlewood Canyon State Park is a popular recreation spot. The park offers excellent opportunities for hiking, rock climbing and bird watching. For summertime fun attend Elizabash held every year during the first weekend in June featuring a parade, rodeo and antique car show.
