Castle Rock Fireworks

Description: Town fireworks display scheduled for July 4

Following local sheriff and Town approval, fireworks are set to blast off from Metzler Ranch Community Park on July 4 in honor of Independence Day.

Under Gov. John Hickenlooper’s statewide fireworks ban, issued June 14, commercial fireworks are allowed only with local sheriff approval. Douglas County Sheriff David Weaver has approved Castle Rock’s fireworks display, which are scheduled for sundown – about 9:30 p.m. – July 4.

The best view of this low-flying show will be inside Metzler Ranch Community Park. Parking inside the park and along Trail Boss Road will not be permitted, so park at nearby parking lots, including retail lots, and walk into the park.

Metzler Park will be closed to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4, so the show can be set up. The Skate Park will be closed all day July 4 and the morning of July 5. Black Feather Trail will be closed between Front Street and Woodlands Boulevard from about 9:30 to 10:45 p.m. July 4.

Even though the sheriff has approved the event, the fireworks display is still contingent on ever-changing weather and fire conditions.

The Town will communicate any change in plans on CRgov.com/fireworks, Facebook (facebook.com/CRgov) and Twitter (@CRgov). Residents can also call the Parks and Recreation weather line, 303-660-1364, on July 4 for updates on the event.
