Francisco Fort Museum was the home of John M. Francisco, former suttler of Fort Garland, he came to the area in 1862 and built an adobe building as his ranch headquarters. It was given to the Town of La Veta by his family in 1958 and the museum established. It is open every day except Monday from Memorial Day to the first weekend in Oct. Call 719-742-5501 for information. We have 17 rooms of history. Francisco Fort Day is the 25th of July 2009.
